Students who successfully complete the course should be able to:

  • Recognise the arts as distinct disciplines within The New Zealand Curriculum 2007 and explore a range of resources to support the teaching of them.

  • Explore and actively engage in all four disciplines, through practical learning experiences.

  • Reflect on the creative process and compare with current literature.

  • Identify the elements, techniques and conventions of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts and use selected terminology from each discipline with accuracy and confidence.

  • Establish a basis from which planning, teaching and evaluating lessons in the arts can be implemented.
